From Russia, With Love

I've always been a fan of the perfect dedication. Whenever I give a book as a gift (which I tend to do a lot), I'll spend an inordinate amount of time thinking of the dedication. In my estimation, it the keystone that brings into perspective your friendship and your affection, and as such are words that may last a lifetime. It is an awesome responsibility, and if you love the person enough to give a book, then the time and effort is well spent and deserved. The trick is to be memorable and succinct, which as you can imagine, is not easily done.

I'm also in the habit of signing my own books with the city and year. It's cool- as I look at books I've bought over the years, they are a reflection of my interests, challenges, and perspective on life.
